Hello all. I like doing remote play with the Bluetooth toys from Lovense, but I would really like to be able to do distance electro play. Does it exist? I have only found a few units that are not marketed for sex applications. I don't know if it's the inherent dangers that have kept this from being a thing or not, but if you have a source, please share.

I'm very intrigued by remote devices and would love to play with them but have never tried due to the looming threat of spy- and malware that could be packaged with their apps.

Do you feel that is an issue with reputable brands like Lovense? I heard the horror story about the CellMate, so maybe so ...

Question: If I have another phone that does not have anything critical on it, like banking apps, email, etc. what is the worst you think could happen? Would that be a workable solution?

I do more and more stuff remotely now and Lovense has become a part of that.

That's how I feel. Some immediate gratification from something like a toy isn't worth the potential fallout. And since activity with the Lovesense toy and software seems to pass through server in China? Well, I just don't think that could ever be a non-issue.



Disclamier: I'm not a tech expert but more of a tech hobbyist.

If you're using a cell phone and that phone is tied to your legal name, or to an account that has your legal name, then I always look at it as that is a point of connection that could be made. Internally, such as with your carrier, absolutely. Externally, as with your clients, family or friends, or other work you may do or business you may have, it is less if that number is used exclusively for kinky work related activity and you NEVER co-mingle it with your friends/family or whatever you may use your primary number for.

If you're using SMS software, like the one that comes bundled with your phone's OS, then I always assume, thanks to the Patriot Act, that it's not truly private and the carrier could read your messages at any time for any reason. Whatever they may find could potentially be tied to your account as a whole and thus your legal name and added to some "dossier" about you. Sounds wacky but these are the kinds of things that Facebook has done, gotten in hot water about, "apologized", and then proceeded to keep doing them. I never assume any SMS or email or DM is private unless it's encrypted.

So, if you want to play it safe, or at least safer, get a separate phone and number for your work. If you want to be especially cautious, use a different carrier. If you want to be even more cautious, get a phone that doesn't have to be tied to your legal name in any way. Then, use encrypted communications with your clients.

I have an end-to-end encrypted email account for all business correspondence. The catch is that the recipient must also use it or it's not really serving it's purpose. I have encouraged my regular clients to all get encrypted email accounts and they all have done so. I feel much less twitchy about the horny guy wanting to detail his fantasy or recap our session when I know that Hotmail or Gmail or whomever isn't searching his messages, reading along, and adding that to some profile about us.

I also use end-to-end encrypted SMS, but since I don't offer SMS for my clients it's really more for my friends and family. Like email, this type of encryption means that as long as you and the person you're communicating with are using it the exchange is cannot be read by anyone but the sender and receiver.

Some say that some encryption software is not actually encrypted. One such case was Facebook's Messenger. It was discovered their staff could read supposedly encrypted exchanges. You mean, Zuckerberg was lying?? Color me surprised.

You have to look at who's creating the app. If it's someone with a shady history I wouldn't trust it. Zuckerberg made his fortune by data mining and brokerage. Do we honestly think he's going to offer free encryption because he cares about privacy?



If Lovesense is important to how you work I'd get a separate phone and a VPN. (A VPN isn't a bad idea even if you don't use Lovesense.) The VPN will allow you to connect to various servers around the world and route your activity through it. So, if you connect to a server in Mexico it will look like you're located in Mexico. Then use encrypted SMS to talk. It doesn't eliminate all security issues but I think it helps a lot.

If you're really concerned about all the potential security issues I recommend asking a tech specialist. There are lots of them in a place like Reddit. You'll probably get a more thorough answer that I've given you here.
