#42 Jackie Robinson - 04/17/21 11:10 AM

In 1946 Jackie Robinson played baseball with the Montreal Monarchs.
Rachel Robinson got a list of apartments for rent near the baseball park.
She stopped at the first one on list the list.
She was invited in for tea and over an hour later signed a lease.

When she was pregnant the neighbour's children would ran after her and carry her groceries. (Rachel would leave fruit outside their door for them.)

Jackie was frequently chased by mobs of excited white Montrealers because they loved him and wanted to be near him.

In 1947, when they flew out of Montreal for New York, Jackie decided that if baseball thing did not work out he would move back to paradise.

He was a great man. Years ago, a friend of mine told me that Robinson's son started a coffee company and did many wonderful things for people in third world countries through it. I've looked for this on line but haven't found anything. If memory serves, my friend told me that Robinson's son wrote a book about it. If you know anything about this, please share.

When I researched to confirm my facts, I came across some the books on the subject. I see what I can do to find them.
