Home Dungeons - 03/03/21 03:43 AM

Has anyone here had one before? My girlfriend and I thinking about making a room in our basement for one. I am going to do it with a hidden door. We've got some ideas floating around and have looked at photos on line. If anyone has suggestions that would be great.

A hidden room? What fun. One of my friends built a hidden room for the long retired but forever remembered iconic Janet Spencer of Boston. If memory serves, they did it with a book case.

Of the 3 play spaces I've built out over the years, the one thing I didn't have was mood lighting. Dimmer switches were a must but, mood lighting would have been cool. Depending on how elaborate you want to get, an integrated sound system with speakers throughout would be cool too. This sounds like such a fun project. I'd love to see photos of it when you are done. Please keep us posted on how it goes. How much square footage do you have to work with? How tall are the ceilings? Is noise a factor?

First of all, fuck you Scooby I'm so jealous. Now that that's out of the way...

One thing I recommend having in a basement is something to help counter the lack of light you'll get. Obviously you want the lighting to match the mood, but the more options the better. I recommend led strip lighting because it takes up no space and also you can change the colors via remote.

Another really cool idea I love is mirrors. Mirrors on the wall (or in place of a wall) are sexy and help brighten the place a bit. The only time I would not recommend mirrors is if you plan on filming a lot. You can buy tiles of mirrors the stick right onto the wall.

Doing any fireplay, waxplay, or lighting candles? Keep a fire extinguisher down there. Also a trauma kit, can never be too safe.

If you have enough space and enjoy a drink, consider adding a bar to the side as well.

Also, get one of these

It's a basement, you want to make sure it doesn't get too humid down there or your furniture will degrade.

If you post more details about what you're thinking I will try to bounce some more ideas off that as well smile

I definitively second the mirrors. They make the place look bigger and allow more angles to admire the view.

A lady who speaks her mind. I love it. I hadn't thought of a wet bar and some of the other suggestions. Your post is very helpful. LED lights it is. Mirrors definitely. It will make everything look bigger. I was thinking of going with 20 x 20, not counting an adjoining 1/2 bath. Is that small for a play space that is big enough to hang out for the evening? It is doubtful that we will be filming. It is just for my girlfriend and me. She is very private about this part of our lives.

I asked my girlfriend about mood lighting. She loved the suggestion. Maybe flat wall mounting fireplace, the kind that flips on with a switch?

Thanks, man. LOL. Yeah, I'm feeling lucky to have a girl that is as into this as I am and room to do this.

Actually, mood lighting is extremely simple nowadays with multi-colored Smart LED bulbs or panels. It used to need to be a totally different set of lights or specifically changing light bulbs to create mood. However, in the last few years, these new bulbs/panels allow you to switch up the lighting from perfect exterior white to any color (other than black... which still requires a separate type of bulb) with just a remote or an app on your phone.

I haven't talked to her for years. Last I heard she moved to NYC and was very happy with a personal kink partner. An icon indeed. Great lady. Some times you don't know the good old days until they are a memory.

Mistress, oh you are very wise and absolutely correct. In the past year especially I have nostalgically remembered many of my great kink partners, with thanks, with love and in the words of jazz musicians wishing I could do it, "one more once" if they were still around.

My dungeon is on my home. I LOVE having my space in my home.

Suggestions? Main one is to consider who might have to go in it. My gas meter is in mine and so occasionally the gas dude has to come in. I don't say anything and just pretend like it's all normal. Only one person asked any questions and I just say "I just like to have fun." smile

That is a great point. In the small town I live in everyone knows everyone. I'd be proud if word got out but my girlfriend would be mortified. So, I've been very careful to conceal the room in every way possible. Mistress Tissa, you probably made the meter readers day. He probably left wondering how to get a date with you.

She reached out to me about 6-7 years ago with a PM after I referenced her in a post in a thread on Maxfisch about all time favourites. In it she said she was well and called herself an "improbable trophy wife" grin
She is one of my all time favourites so it was nice to hear that things were going well for her.
