BDSM/kink in movies, TV, and music

BDSM/kink in movies, TV, and music - 03/31/20 09:44 AM

The topic about clothing got me to thinking about this - what movies, tv shows, and/or music have you heard either overt references to BDSM, or innocent dialogue that screams kink to you? And I don't mean from entertainment that is about BDSM, like say 50 Shades of Gray. It's happened to me a lot, especially recently probably due to being cooped up with a lot of time.

I'll give an example. I recently was watching American Horror Story ( Apocalypse). During an episode people were not allowed to leave the confinement for various reasons. Two characters in authoritative positions are talking privately and one says to the other "It's strangely satisfying isnt it? Dispensing punishment. I love their faces. That STUPID, can't believe this is happening to me look they get. I'm not embarrassed to say it gives me a tingle."

A song on my playlist that makes me smirk whenever it comes on has these lyrics - "I like it when you take control even if you know that you don't own me, I'll let you play the role, I'll be your animal".

I'll laugh when I hear or see references that remind me of kink. If I'm around vanilla friends I sometimes get strange looks. wink But it seems like it is more prevalent than it used to be. Or maybe it's just my bored dirty mind. Ha!

Where do you hear/see kink in entertainment?

It seems more prevalent now than ever. I heard the expression, "should have used a safeword" in something the other day. I recently binge watched Avenue 5 on HBO (I love Hugh Laurie and he doesn't disappoint in this). There seemed to be a BDSM reference around every corner. And the relationship with the ship owner and his personal assistant is overtly D/s.

Billions - 03/31/20 09:27 PM

Paul Giamatti's Chuck Rhoades, rather than be blackmailed out of a run for AG because of his masochistic needs, fully acknowledges them publically in a beautifully written, beautifully acted speech.

In my book Billions is one of the best series ever on its artistic merits, and the BDSM theme appeared from the first episode from the first season. Wendy is my favorite character but there are many good characters and excellent actors.

Catching up on back series of Seal Team and a line from the episode I watched last night .... “The them to tonight’s raid is BDSM”. grin

I will confess to watching 3 episodes of Now Apocalypsee which was pretty bad. One of its plot elements involved a cam girl who developed an interest in domination and started doing sessions.

Has anybody watched Bonding on Netflix? How are the portrayals?

I enjoyed Bonding. It took a lot of flack from the BDSM community, pro Dommes in particular, but it was meant to be entertaining not educational. And it was entertaining - at least to me. Hollywood seldom takes the time to get anyone's profession absolutely right. I have a friend that can't watch Billions because he constantly picks apart the financial nomenclature.

Ozark season 3 has recently been released by Netflix.
There is one of the best kicks to the balls I have seen in any main-stream movie...
Had to rewind it a few times :-)
