Yes. They prefer to be known by just their initials.

I'll be so happy when this week is over. In the past month I must have received 50 press releases a day from yet another company peddling wireless earphones.

That is one show I don't miss doing. My current employer used to be the general contractor for many years before it went out for renewal. I'll stick to shows I am accustomed to like the Army show & Conexpo

WAIT.... Have I got a deal for you.... These wireless earphones can automatically detect and replace the sound of crying babies on an airplane with any sound of your choosing including the orgasms of your favorite Domme (once we get all the releases signed and lawsuits/legal charges settled for how I got those sounds in the first place).

Expect the release sometime in the 2nd quarter of 2020, but pre-order at our booth and receive a 20% discount!!!

I imagine that one of the hottest tech areas at CES will be innovations in Virtual Reality. Does anyone see VR becoming a mainstay of BDSM media?

That shouldn't be very hard, considering how many of these new amazing earphones do language translation.

CES has had an on-and-off relationship with adult sexual products, and this year, while I haven't seem much about it come thought the press release flood (maybe you have to specifically ask for that kind of news - I checked "audio" in my profile and that's obviously why I'm getting press releases about talking dog robots), this year they're making a space in the Health and Wellness area for adult products.

The only thing on the subject that's made its way to my mailbox is about the Lioness. No, that's not the name of a domme (at least not in this context), it's a high tech vibrator with Bluetooth remote control for speed and motion, plus a temperature sensor to tell when the oven is ready - their claim is that, with its artificial intelligence, it guides the user to achieving the best orgasm. The device was introduced a couple of years ago, but now, in its second generation, they're making a big splash this year. It seems that last year it was nominated as a finalist in the Last Gadget Standing show event, but CES revoked the nomination, declaring the product “immoral, obscene, indecent, profane or not in keeping with CTA’s image.” The owner of the company raised quite a fuss, and eventually the nomination was re-instated. So, this year, it's founder and CEO, Liz Klinger, who's making the news.

[Later, after yet another press release]
Well, it seems that there are at least two gadgets like this, both with essentially the same story, so they're easy to confuse - at least for me, who, as a guy, doesn't experience female orgasms. The other remotely controlled artificially intelligent producte is named Osé, the founder is Lori DiCarlo, and they'll be represented at the show as well.

Like XXX video became a driving force with VCRs, porn on the Internet, etc., etc., expect to see VR become a mainstay of BDSM making the technology more popular down the road.

I don't think so. Porn on videocassette just seemed natural - everyone had a video cassette player, and you no longer had to go to a peep show or have an 8mm film projector to watch it. It came around at the right time, and was easily extended to computers and on-line streaming then it was time.

At this point in time, VR requires special hardware. While it's possible to get into it for fairly modest cost, it's just not very convenient to use. You can't just watch VR porn (or VR anything else for that matter), you have to put on your goggles, fire up your computer, and by then you've probably lost the mood.

About the only thing I've read about regarding VR porn is a production technique that allows you to virtually touch the model in the video and she'll move to respond to your touch. But until AI kicks in on all cylinders, responses will have to be programmed. Touch her cheek and she'll smile and tilt her head. But if you grab her crotch, will she slap your face? wink

My name understanding is that AVN only exists because of CES. Originally the adult industry was a part of it but in a separate area of the convention, then when CES kicked out the adult vendors AVN established their own separate convention that happened to run at the same time in Vegas. Eventually, AVN moved to several weeks later and CES started letting limited adult products back in.

That's about right. Initially, the only "adult products" at CES were videos and sex dolls, and the "business" side was about how to sell them, both to individuals and to sex shops. They didn't have Bluetooth vibrators and barely had 3D movies back then. Eventually it got big enough to get moved out to the parking lot, after a year or two of that, it became a separate but concurrent show with its own admission.

It's not clear to me if CES ever actually kicked adult products out, but they certainly didn't encourage them, and that business about revoking (and then re-instating) the award brought them to what they have this year, which is a one-year experiment to see how it goes. I have no predictions.
