Observations about Halloween & BDSM - 11/01/19 02:05 PM

Sorry that this is a day late, but I was thinking about this yesterday as I scurried around to come up with a cheap Halloween costume for a kids' (as well as parents, grandparents) party. Here is an observation or two about Halloween & BDSM.

For many of us aren't sessions, when done with the right person and setting, great costuming, the proper attitude and equipment (if needed) just like Halloween except we can escape and do it 365 days a year?

Maybe because I'm a "lighter" player than many on this site, I've often said to more-than-one Mistress I've served, "For me sessions are like an adult Disney World."

P.S. - I have an old N.Y. Giants helmet and, with makeup and an old football jersey, dressed up as a ghostly football player. The kids loved it.

Ha! That's a good way to put it, adult Disney World.

Maybe that's why I have always loved Halloween so much, the dress up aspect and being someone else for a day.

The first Mistress I saw on a regular basis once said to me sessions were play time for adults. I liked that description.

A lot of drag queens claim Halloween as their Drag-versary because it allows people to become a character that they otherwise would never have to courage to be in daily life. I think that is true of BDSM. It allows us to act and dress in a way that is not accepted by regular society. It is a transgressive act to do and be how one feels on the inside.

Halloween has often been called Straight Pride Day for this reason. Straight people act a lot like LGBTQIA+ people do on Pride- expressing themselves without fear of judgement.

I completely agree. Looking back at Halloween parties with straight friends and seeing how some dressed did reveal sides of them that I never knew, some on the sexual and kinky side. It is a day of freedom of expression.

Like the Ministry song: Everyday Is Halloween (or can be in our kinkworld).

Kink can be like a perpetual adult Halloween. smile

The is one reason why I love roleplay and psychodrama so much. It's an opportunity to explore consciousness and the nature of reality. My imagination sees limitless possibilities. My play partner(s) and I can embody other, imagined selves....and then do sexy things as those people.

There's also the therapeutic potential in dressing up, stepping outside of your ego and pretending to be someone else. It can effect real change in your life. It can also just be really hot and fun. I've called it a "playcation".
