"Sex Worker" as a Title

I have been having this conversation for far too long now. I am a "Sex Worker" and I align with all people under this umbrella. Sex worker does not mean prostitute, necessarily. I am taking this from how I am perceived from the civilian world. They don't really know the difference between an escort, exotic dancer, cam girl, clip girl, tantric masseur, nor domme outside of different flavours of something that deviates from a "normal" mainstream job. Legally we are all in danger of the same things. Seeking to divide ourselves in a "whorearchy" does nothing but divide us.
Also, I am not a fan of separating dommes from other sex workers because we ALL have different boundaries. Then we all become victims of nitpicking "What makes a real domme." The splitting of hairs gets out of control and does nothing to serve us.
Fighting for legalisation of all sex work and safety of all sex workers is in all of our interests. It has gotten better over the years, but there are still some hangers on.

I have seen some of the flame wars erupt when there is an effort to classify sex workers in some kind of subsets or a caste system in which specialty A has a higher standing in the hierarchy than B.
Is there perhaps some competitive jealousy among sex workers of different specialties that creates the need for the"whoreacrchy"?
While far from a perfect analogy, there are general terms for professions including doctors, lawyers etc. that cooperate and advocate very well for everyone in the category while acknowledging that there are many subsets of skills and services offered within the general classification.
Your point of facing many of the same challenges and of the benefits of universal cooperation should be obvious to all.

Your logic is impeccable. Very well thought out and expressed.
Makes perfect sense to me.

That all sounds reasonable.
Who disagrees with that and why?

Thanks! I think the attitude is changing to more solidarity. Glad to see you agree.

Yes, I can tell you that I have my own feelings to over come. I know mentally that solidarity is best.
For example. I have a friend here who started doing tantric massage. She has "high end" massage oil that costs her 100€ or so a week and she spends about 200€ on ads a month. She charges a third higher than my tribute and can take, literally, twice the amount of appointments I can because she doesn't need the same prep and clean up time, and her market is not as "niche" as mine. My knee jerk reaction is to anger/jealousy because I have so much more invested in my craft and my overhead is so much more expensive. Why should she make more money for a glorified rub and tug? Then calmer mindsets prevail and I realise we have more in common than not.
It's not that we don't feel that pang of "whorearchcy," but it is best to overcome for the greater good.

As I posted earlier, there is a knee jerk reaction to separate oneself from other sex workers. I often mention that I do not have any kind of sexual relations with my clients when describing my job. Not proud of it, but I do. I am trying to do less of that.
I had a long conversation (debate) with a domme who has been pro for a year. She INSISTED that she was not a sex worker, that she was nothing like a prostitue and she was a "real" domme. To be honest, I have seen her play and she does a lot of sexual things that are way past my personal limits, so does that make me a "realer" domme? (Hint: No.)
There are those who say we are not sex workers, we are therapists. To which I say, I have seen many a therapist on my life's journey. Not once did I request an outfit and never did I masturbate in front of him or her at the end.
I generally push these conversations to "Where is the line?" At what point do you cross being a "Dominant Goddess" in to being a "Common Whore"? Who draws that line? Then ultimately, why do we need the fucking line anyway?
It comes back to I don't like to tell people where their boundaries and limits are because I sure as hell don't want mine dictated to me and then all of us "sex workers" face a lot of the same issues. We are stronger together, undivided.

Domina M, I have heard that even "plain" sex workers, or at least those that want repeat business, have to don their Amateur "Therapist" hat, to some extent, and why the GFE is a thing. Having a pretty girl take an interest for an hour or so, even if it is contrived, human connection that doesn't even necessarily involve sex, has probably steered many a "loser" off that ledge. po
