I'm putting this here because it relates to a larger issue in our community about the use and ethics around AI, misrepresentation, theft, and copyright infringement. I also just want people to be aware of it and don't want to mix it up in the Websites forum where people are trying to advertise their work.
This is a grifter/scam project using my concept for
BDSMProfessionals.com: serious BDSM providers, no escorts, global directory.
I heard about it because some Dommes were reporting that they were receiving email from a man calling himself "Lawrence" saying he's seen your work and wanted to invite you to claim a free profile. Apparently he's now going with "Sarah", presumably because he read what I've been saying about him being yet another unknown man with no established connection to our industry or community, likely no real knowledge of it, coming in and try to profit from women's/Domme's work.
And I just noticed he's now copied my color scheme and logo concept. Waiting to see what he can't come up with by himself next. In the meantime, I'm preparing a cease and desist. He clearly doesn't understand copyright law. Unfortunately, for him, I do. And so does my lawyer.
The domain was registered in April of last year. This was shortly after I gave the site an overhaul and added more listing types which were requested by some of the Dommes. He must have noticed and gotten dollar signs in his eyes. "How can I make this work for me?"
The site has been made with AI. This means he told a computer to make it for him and it did. Generative AI utilizes its network of stolen code, graphics, and writing in order to generate what you see. It might look "nice" or comprehensive but he didn't create or write anything on there. This means all the "how to" questions have been taken from people in the BDSM community. He likely knows little if anything about Dommes or BDSM. He doesn't need to when he can ask the computer to come up with a list of good questions, and a list of all major cities around the world, and whatever else and add them to his site.
He's used an AI scraper to go around to Dommes' sites and steal their photos and information and add it to his site. He's framing it as nothing more than "publicly available" information without understanding that you cannot just steal people's work, add it to your own site, and attempt to profit from it. So, more copyright infringement. But grifters gotta grift. Until they receive DMCA takedown requests and letters from people's lawyers.
The unfortunate thing is that some Dommes have fallen for it. They don't realize that if he's willing to steal your work he clearly does not respect you, no matter how pretty his presentation or how much faux admiration or support he may attempt to beguile you with. But, still, some Dommes have followed the sketchy link in the email asking them to "claim" their profile, effectively consenting to his theft of their work for his benefit and profit. The link that was shared with me had "localhost" in it. This is another way of saying his personal computer. Yes, he wanted you to follow a link that connected you to his own computer. I do not recommend that. Especially when we have absolutely no idea who this is.
I feel sorry for these guys who have such little talent or knowledge that they shamelessly just copy others instead of coming up with their own ideas and doing the work themselves.
I'm the only woman, and one who actually works in this industry, who's made and is running a site for people who also work in this industry. But here's another random guy who is hoping no one asks any questions about who he is and what his interest is in Dommes and our community. Not that I would expect him to be honest if he were asked. Remember: people can make up anything online these days. And now they have the help of AI to make it look legitimate.
