Globally the economy seems to be in not the best place right now, so how's that affecting the Pro-Domme economy?
It doesn't surprise me that no one replied. I don't think Dommes typically want to admit they are vulnerable.
So, I'll be the first to do it: This economy is a challenge.
Seeing a Dominatrix is a luxury service. And those are probably one of the first things that people stop doing when money gets tighter, or the market starts going wibbly-wobbly, or there are existential threats about [pick something].
I'm already a niche Domme. Or so I believe. I think our industry is largely fueled by fetishists. People wanting service tops. Instant gratification. And so those of us who don't allow ourselves to be objectified and instructed on how to do our jobs, who put the Dom in FemDom, who don't entertain ideas of being ready with an hour's notice are actually at a disadvantage, overall.
I also don't take any session that comes my way. I turn people down when it's not a good match. Sometimes guys just look at photos or whatever and think you'll just be a puppet in their fantasy, ready and willing on their terms. They think FemDom is a porn concept, not a personality type. See paragraph above.
Furthermore, I don't tolerate all the noise that can come with this line of work. I just don't have the emotional capacity for it at this point. It drains me. And I need all that sexy juice for my scenes. So, people need to show me they're as serious as I am or I'm not interested.
All this adds up to a bit of a drop.
And I know it's not just me. Some Dommes have confided in me that the sessions just aren't getting booked. Some have left the biz. Others are distressed. I feel for them. We're all just trying to get by in this fucked up world.
Anyone NOT having a problem in this economy?
