The idea for a domina governing body comes up every so often, where there would be some kind of standard and requirement to keep a certification in good standing. Unfortunately these groups are always the least qualified people to do this.

Professional femdom maybe a group of mavericks, on the fringe of society, but we have always had a social network and those who don't respect others get shunned from the group and the benefits of networking provide.

it's generally something that its better to avoid, but we all look different and use last names and honorifics, so that helps.

Funny story though, I used to use a dungeon where another Elena had started coming to as well. One day I booked a session at the same time the dungeon opened, but I knew the phone girl and saw she had a session 30min after my start time.

I texted the phone girl and asked if she would mind coming in 30min early for me. She was annoyed about it, but said okay.

When I arrived, she was shocked to see me b/c she thought the other Elena had been the one asking for the favor. To make it worse, she didn't have a session, that was another domme with the same name as her!

I use my full name at all times now to avoid these mistakes.

Seems like a recipe for trouble, though I guess a double Domme session could be interesting!

From a branding perspective it is wise to craft an identity that cannot be confused with other Dommes when starting out. A Domme seeking to create a recognizable brand, should definitely look up their desired name and check if there is already someone who has established a presence with said name. If so, the best way to create a separate lane of one's own (esp. as the BDSM sphere grows online) is definitely to have a name + last name combo.

While not exactly the same there are quite a few around that are close. Seeing Madame X, Lady X and Mistress X hasn't been uncommon over the years. Mistress Troy and Troy Orleans (both of NYC) sometimes get confused.....and then there is DominaM of Paris and DominatrixM of Warsaw (and Warsaw Prison)

I don't think it's a huge deal as anyone looking to book should be doing more than casual research. If you do it is pretty easy to ensure you are approaching the right lady.

Yes, there are conflicts. A Domme told me that someone started using her name. She was pissed. I would be, too.

I don't know why anyone would think it makes sense to use the same or very similar-sounding name. People might wonder if you're trying to ride someone's coat-tails. Or you lack originality. Or you're not paying attention to the very industry you're going into, where you want to be distinct....unless, of course, you aren't distinct.
