Back on the old Max Fisch board there was this one very heavy player who used to write these reports of very long scenes. I remember one where he saw this woman in Austria (?), maybe, and it was a week long scene where he slept in freezing temperatures, had a near starvation diet, heavy corporal, ice water showers -- I remember reading it and thinking I'd never survive that. (Nor do I fantasize it.) At the end he said they had a nice come down and that it was an intense but overall good experience for both.

I have no interest in psychological damage! There is some appeal in the mental knowledge that I have to settle into a scene that will continue -- that it won't end in an hour. I have done a fair amount of distance play over phone/email/text with one woman, and her deal is that when we start it's up to her when we end. The longest we did was two months. Yes, it's different because we're away, but she is very good at ramping up and down, building in breaks, etc. I do think I could do a day or two or three with the right person and have it be a good experience.
