Several years ago I read an article about Leopold von Sacher-Masoch. It claimed that the man was a mass of contradictions. On the one hand he was a sub. He also had some feminist ideas such as favoring suffrage. OTOH there was a considerable amount of misogyny in his writings including but not limited to Venus in Furs.
