bdsm or seeing a domme is certainly one of severals form of therapy to some people. Anecdotally there are dozens and hundreds of reports of basic mood elevation from being spanked or caned or whipped, and there is the study from Siberia on the topic of the use of whipping and caning on those who, either male or female, have had addiction or drugs, alcohol or various neuroses. Oh, neurosis means a minor form of so-called mental illness, such as phobia, panic attacks, poor mood, depression, etc.
In addition to the anecdotes, there are the formal, controlled psychological studies. . . . But different recipients of a domme visit have different purposes . . . and having the different purposes probably influences the degree to which the visit is therapeutic, if at all!
Hi Ztrade:
Good to hear from you and thanks for weighing in. Thinking back on it, I now realize that a pro session cured me of my needle phobia. I used to be very uncomfortable about getting shots or having my blood taken, but after an intense piercing session many years ago, my aversion to needles is totally cured. I didn't particularly enjoy the session, but after going through all that, getting a blood test or a shot in the arm seems like nothing!
