Vulnerability doesn't magically happen. You have to allow yourself to become vulnerable. And, like you said, it can be an issue of not feeling comfortable allowing it with someone you don't know.

Yes, there is skill involved in this process. Understanding what it means to assume the Dominant role (different than just the top role). So, subs, don't blame yourself if it's not happening. If your expectations are misaligned it can affect your ability to, what I call, "drop into the scene".
