It's no different than working with other professionals... e.g. attorneys also ask for a retainer. I liken it to asking an attorney if they do living trusts, or asking a doctor if they treat obesity. Neither of which requires a payment to get an answer.

Well your site is exceptionally thorough Thank you, Chamberpot. The devil is in the details, as they say. Most others contain far less information. Many sites don't include the Mistress's preferences for FTT, for example. They'll say 'toilet training' without the necessary details. As far as some of those details: in some cases it's a legal risk that we're trying to avoid. (Toilet training is illegal for compensation in some places, you know.) This is why some people don't list it, or other things. It's also that the Domme may not be very experienced and therefore does not know how to anticipate the needs of the client. It may also be that she is amazing and doesn't feel the need to list the details or an explanation of how she does toilet training. there are more kinks than we can include on any website. Even YOU acknowledge "If you don't see your interest, please check my limits before making a polite inquiry." So the prospective client runs the risk of paying a tribute in order to be told "Nope, that isn't happening". There are ways of contacting a Domme who might have a tribute-up-front approach. However, I will say that in my experience 0% of people who contacted me outside my site with some question about me or sessions ever ended up booking one. Thereby diverting funds that could have been applied to a session elsewhere. And maybe that's just the way it is. I have had a few people send a gift to request a session and then the session request is not a good match for me. And, to me, it's clear they didn't bother reading anything about me or my style or my limits. For example, I had someone send a very scripted scene. I indicate that's a hard limit. I told him this and said we could discuss something less scripted, but he just disappeared. He probably left thinking he wasted his time or money, but, really, that wasn't my fault.

Neither of which requires a payment to get an answer. Not quite a solid analogy. The reason is that very nature of what we do -- eroticism -- is a cycle of arousal, tension, and release, is different than an attorney and doctor. We deal with guys who are horny and want to get off. Most have no intention of booking anything but will feign interest to fulfill their cyclical needs. If you worked on this side and had to deal with manipulator after manipulator, you would eventually change your practice or die. This is one way that Dommes burn out. Attorneys and doctors don't have this issue. But, I'm sure if you asked them, they do have their share of people who try to get advice for free and have ways of minimizing time spent with those people.

I get that. I was responding to the comment that it was no different than working with other professionals like lawyers. I understand the erotic nature of what you do and why it makes a difference. But no, you don't have to pay to ask a lawyer if they are interested in handling a specific case.
I think it is reasonable for a dom to give one concise answer to a prospective client's initial questions. But if that doesn't seem to move things along then she could dismiss the person.

I guess this is where you decide if a Domme who lacks pertinent detail on her website yet does not allowing questions about that lack of detail is someone you actually want to session with.
