I agree with Domme Lynx. Electricity is something you want to see someone who has been trained on it. Like most things BDSM, it's not that difficult, but someone has to show you how to do it. As with, say, rope bondage, safety is pretty apparent once someone points it out to you, but it may not be on the mind of a newcomer.

Then, just because someone knows how to use electrics safely doesn't mean they have it down. It can take years to master the nuances. T&D with electrics is a pretty nuanced type of play. One has to be aware of the electrical wavelength to know what sensation it produces. It's easy to ZAP-ZAP you, but to find that razor's edge of tingly stimulation takes some know-how.
