I recently visited a commercial dungeon in NYC. I had a wonderful time there with a lovely Mistress, but I had a problem when it came to tribute. When I booked the session I spoke with the manager of the house who informed me that the session price was 300 per hour. That was roughly what I would pay when I went to see an independent and I came with that expectation, but found that apparently all that goes to the house and tribute for the Mistress is separate from that. I ended up paying twice what I expected with only half going to the Mistress. My question is, is this common these days at commercial dungeons?

They should've told you that up front, but I've heard many clients have been bait-and-switched with prices at some dungeons. Some will have the women ask you if you'd like x then if you say yes they charge you more at the end.

Most dungeons will have a certain rate and you are expected to tip, but paying twice as much as you were told is crazy.

I don't know about the other commercial Dungeons in the city. But if you stick to Pandora's Box while in NYC, you won't have an experience like you described.

I don't know how it goes in NYC. But, I've always had an issue with tipping. When I ran a house in Columbus, Ohio, there were firm prices up front with a no tipping policy. My reasoning was, get the money out of the way so everyone can just have fun. I will add that $300. for a session these days is on the low side. Keep in mind, that should be a red flag.

I would not go back to that dungeon again. No matter how you look at it, this is a horrible practice. They are ripping clients off or the mistresses or both. In my opinion, it is 100% unethical not to have the tribute established and taken care of before play begins.

I agree with Cheyenne on all points; tipping is kind of bullshit, and $300 for NYC seems really low.

It's been quite a while since I've been to a dungeon, but the standard assumption was that the house took a cut, often 60%, and clients were expected to tip some amount -- 20% and up -- on top of that. I've never heard of a house taking 100%, and it's weird to expect a client to have an extra $300 in cash in his pocket. Would be curious what house you are speaking of (as far as I know, NY only has two or three.)

Wow that's quite the racket. How much did you end up paying to the Domme? I don't think there is a standard practice for commercial dungeons anymore, there's so few left in the states now and every one I'm familiar with has vastly different rates and practices. NYC and Chicago are really the only places I can think of that have those types of 'houses'. There's a big difference in the commercial Dungeons that have Dommes as 'employees' VS the Dungeons that simply rent to independents or have a collective such as Atlanta Dungeon. The houses usually take a much higher cut than just having independents rent per hour.
