Yes, the Olympics are here. Yes, Anne Hildago (the mayor of Paris) swam in the Seine to prove it was safe. (I am NOT convinced). No, the train sabotage did not affect me; I barely ever leave my neighborhood (the 10th arrondissement and all its hipster glory). So far, Paris feels like a ghost town, more than being overrun. Everyone was scared off, I guess (???).

I will chat here so we don't keep hijacking threads.

Cheers!

I am really upset with myself for not organizing a Slave Olympics this year. I've always wanted to do it.

Mistresses from around the world bring their favorite pets to compete in slave competitions: best foot massager, best dungeon cleaner, most cane strokes, etc. In the end, all the mistresses win because being blatantly unfair is baked into the program.

This was the year to do it, I guess. Damn it. I'll think of another reason.

OMG!!! The slave Olympics sounds so fun and awesome!

I would be up for it, but not so sure about my mistress / domme. I'm in the USA, and that would be a memorable trip to savor. I would definitely ask her to partake - being that she loves Paris and culture. And we have our 10 year dommiversary next year. Who knows, maybe she would go?!?!
Are you serious? Do you have a venue scoped out and available.

This excites me.

Well part of the problem is it's nothing but a nebulous idea in my head at the moment. It would take a massive amount of planning and financial investment. I like the concept of something light-hearted where a slave can show off how well he serves his mistress.

In a DIFFERENT post (that veered way off the original topic) regarding my neighborhood, I complained about "Souless Instagram Fashion Cafés" and then found out one had a Sunday morning group run, and well, I had to do that. I will still complain about the other vapid cafés, but I had so much fun meeting people for the run this morning. I am all for community building, especially for my specific interests.

So, my area of Paris, by the Canal, used to be where people bought drugs. Now, it's where people buy vegan matcha and peanut butter cookies, though the person providing either looks the same.

We don't have to irritate that poor gentleman who had a simple request for a Brussels recommendation.

Thanks, Domina M. Yes, I can see where it would be quite an undertaking with finding a venue being the first consideration. These type of events do exist, as I know of several. If the domme would delegate functions, I could see where that would lighten the burden a bit on pulling off such an event.

As for me, I often think about attending - but its not easy for me to fit in as a stag (single). It takes alot of time for me to get comfortable in any situation. I would definitely need my domme by my side. Thats another reason why I have been with her for almost 10 years - she is fantastic, but its also how I roll.

Thanks for the reply and insights. Stay awesome and legendary! cool

Did You attend the opening ceremony along the Seine? It appeared there were some open areas where people could set up chairs or blankets outside of the official grandstands. i watched it on tv, where each vignette was presented, but im curious what it looked like in person from any particular vantage point?

At the least it seems like the JO brought some significant improvement to some of the Metro lines.

im glad that You found a good running club. Running along the canal used to mean dodging tents, sleeping people, and all sorts of abandoned furniture ....i also liked that "peanut butter cookies" are an example of vegan hipster eats ...here in the States, peanut butter is suspect because so many people have allergies that it would have to be almond butter or sunflower butter cookies to be sold alongside matcha!

I didn't attend. Like most Parisians, I expected the games to be a total crushing shitshow and crowds of tourists—no thanks. It was apparently hard to see everything from any one vantage point. I went to a BDSM night at a bar--review to follow.

The massive price gouging definitely scared the locals away and a lot of potential visitors. I'm not in the center-center, and it feels like a ghost town. Businesses are not getting the influx of cash they thought. Metro tickets are still twice the cost of normal.

On the positive side, I stocked up my metro app with rides before the price spike, and people who bought event tickets with plans of a big return are practically giving them away. I attended the BMX racing finals last Friday, and I'll see the skateboarding finals on Wednesday. The fun festival vibe is totally worth it.

I don't have any American flag shirts or accessories. I feel a little embarrassed.

Peanut and gluten allergies are not a thing here. Vegetarian/vegan options are everywhere in my hood, though. As a pescatarian, I am happy.

I've heard that people with gluten problems don't have them in Europe. No idea what that means, though the food is definitely better.
