I can attest to the quality and fantastic value compared to "designer" shoes. I have a pair of leather, platform, above-knee boots, and they are just as lovely as when I got them six years ago, but they fit even better with the leather adjusting to my legs. (They should have a "little too snug" fit at first. They will adapt.)

I am here in Paris for the whole Summer, not for business, not my choice, but for other circumstances. I severely doubt it will be anything good for the business or community. Days away from the events, I feel that the news of price-gouging and inadequately updated infrastructure has scared everyone away. All the French have fled, including those running most of the shops. And a fraction of the planned visitors seem to be attending. The city is an absolute ghost town now. We will see this weekend.

Interestingly enough, many people bought super-premium event tickets to resell them for an enormous profit. However, they are giving them away for a song. I'm not sure what kind of shit show this will be now. I am sure I have front-row seats for it.

I concur with Domina M's choice of Arollo. The one thing to be careful of is that ladies with large calves/thighs might have a problem. I would say my calves and thighs are normal to small and both pair of mine are quite tight. I do believe they provide measurements on their site though.

Shipping in time might also be an issue. The first pair I ordered were shipped to the US and took 3-4 weeks. The second pair were shipped to Romania and took about 2 weeks.

Domina M, I read France spent 7 billion on getting ready, not sure there is going to be much of an ROI on that since as you said it isn't all that popular with Paris residents. I think the attack on the train today is just the start of problems.

I watched the opening ceremony today and thought some of it was very creative and inspiring, but I was also struck that there didn't seem to be much in the way of crowd enthusiasm. I did think that the light show at the Eiffel Tower was very entertaining. Is it true that the mayor of Paris took a swim in the the Seine to prove it was safe ??
