The train from Brussels to Paris takes 90 minutes, and the station is in my dungeon neighborhood. Just sayin'.

I'm imagining a very dark dungeon with a heavy door that opens up to a subway platform the kind you might see in NYC. :-)

may i ask if Youve been in the Xeme for many years? That area has undergone quite a significant transformation in the last 10 or 12 years, especially north of the stations along the canal. Years ago when i lived there, before i was active in kink, i always presumed the "scene" was around Pigalle or along Saint-Denis, the traditional neighborhoods for sex work. but i wonder if that was ever the case. It would make sense that kinksters would be more drawn to the hipper quartiers.

Sorry if that seems impertinent but really just more of a curiousity as a longtime visitor to Paris.

Yes, I am near the canal, she said with hipster snobbery. I've been here since 2016, when it was pretty hipster, but its previous dodgy reputation lingered. Now, it is gentrifying further; the quirky, hipster cafés are migrating north to Belleville in the 19e, and we now have "Instagram Fashion cafés."

There was a Mistress Cindy with a massive dungeon in Pigalle, but it is long since gone. I wouldn't say there is an epicenter of the scene here; I wouldn't say there is a scene until the last few years. There are only a handful of tiny dungeons, but they are all on Rive Droite.

"Instagram Fashion Café" is purely my term, not an official thing.

Here is one I am referring to: https://www.instagram.com/buddybuddy/?hl=fr. It has super minimalist decor with overdone coffees and pastries. They are always filled with people wearing too many statement pieces (oversized glasses, clunky shoes, mesh tops, or something else "unique.") In the past two years, no less than ten have popped up in under 800 meters from me. (I actually do like the fancy coffees and weird pastries, but the environment leaves me cold.)
