I don't think Pro Dommes should identify as sex workers

If your website says that no sex is offered during session and you abide by those rules (most clients really are not seeking sex whatsoever), then you're not a sex worker.
I get the impression that a small minority of dommes are casually throwing around this term SWer and trying to identify as part of a group. I personally think it's foolish. You are being left alone in large part. No one is coming after you. 50 Shades of Gray and Onlyfans have mainstreamed this industry. There's no need to feel marginalized or that you have to identify with escorts, many of whom simply want to make a bunch of cash fast and will happily fade off into the distance at a moment's notice.
BDSM is different. It's fantasy roleplay. You are professionals. Skilled tradeswomen.
SWer is not a term for you. My opinion.

You are being left alone in large part. No one is coming after you. 50 Shades of Gray and Onlyfans have mainstreamed this industry. I think this statement is both foolish and naive. Las Vegas cops couldn't give a rat's ass about eacorts, but they will shut down anyone who tries to open a dungeon. One of my Dommes is on her 8th Twitter account because of anti-BDSM ans SW activity. The term Sex Worker title was made to encompass everyone in the sex industry... Which includes many other who don't fuck or perform activities that include the word "job" as part of the title/slang for the act. That includes Struppers, Cam Girls, Findumbs, fetish & bondage models, etc.. Mostly it was started because the general vanilla world doesn't differentiate between these grouos and they face all the same discriminatory challenges across many parts of their lives regardless of whether they actually fuck for money. Whether a Domme chooses to identify as an SW should be a personal choice by that particular Domme and none of our damn business as a customer any more than a random person having an pinon abotu anything that doesn't directly effect them.

If your website says that no sex is offered during session and you abide by those rules (most clients really are not seeking sex whatsoever), then you're not a sex worker. The "sex" in sex workers is shorthand for the various forms of work that involve eroticism. It is not meant to be taken literally. You lack the knowledge about the sociopolitical and legal landscape in which we work and your opinion is based on that. BDSM is different. It's fantasy roleplay. Some of what we do does not involve fantasy nor roleplay. You are professionals. Skilled tradeswomen. All erotic labor has its own set of skills and every laborer has the potential to be a professional.

We are "Sex Workers" in solidarity because we ARE marginalized and put into the same box and still must deal with social stigmas, censorship, and discriminating policies. It seems to be fairly new that Dommes categorize themselves as SW's, but I believe SESTA/FOSTA really pushed us into that term the hardest. Banks, Websites, Payment apps,... we still deal with the same problems any FSSWs would. We use the same advertising sites, same social media platforms, same online payment methods. We may not offer the same service but suffer the same career adversities.

All of this ^ Also, in some jurisdictions, sadomasochism as a whole (e.g. MD, NJ) or aspects of kink, such as piss play (e.g. NC, NH) or live shows (e.g. OR), are specifically written into the definition of "prostitution".
