I am not anti-vax, having gotten my shots as soon as I could find an appointment in March/April. I am also not anti-Fauci as I do believe he truly knows what he is talking about.

However, when it comes to statements like this I do question what Fauci recommends based on his history of shading recommendations for the "greater good" (meaning global considerations beyond my personal health choices, consequences and outcomes).

I also question the profit motive of Pfizer / Moderna suddenly coming up with the need for boosters at 8 months without published & peer-reviewed studies of the waning effectiveness and a booster of the same shot without changes to the vaccine specifically meant to address the current variants they are not as effective against.

This is in no way a screed against this recommendation. I am just stating that I am just as skeptical of statements to wait by Fauci as I am of needing to get a booster of the same shot at 8 months at all.

CAVEAT: I also don't believe that journalists... Especially when just repeating a quote of Dr. Fauci without the full context, always do a good job of relaying what he actually means. There have been multiple times in the last year and a half where a media outlet, CNN for example, relays things that actually contradict what doctor Fauci has said if you heard the entire interview or statement by him. Dr Fauci understands and speaks in subtleties at times... And those subtleties almost always get ignored or lost in translation or even in direct quotes.
