How do you like to vacation? Night life, big city bliss, hiking in the mountains, margaritas on the beach ect. ect. Do you like experiencing new places or annual pilgrimages to familiar spots? Is there a dream vacation on your bucket list or a vacation you've already taken that will forever be your favorite?

I usually prefer relaxing ones. Best ones are beach vacation for me.

The ocean is very relaxing. I love to get a hotel with a balcony where you can hear the waves crash all night. In May I'll be in Costa Rica for a week. When I go to Costa Rica it is the remote jungle part. There are a few beaches where there is usually no one around. So, you can ride an ATV on it....make a fire at night...grill out during the day. I'm bringing a pop up screen house and just chilling out like it is my little condo. You probably like the busier beaches where you can bikini watch though, don't you?

I like all of those things, but for a vacation to work for me it has to have some kind of social event. Visiting people I know, meeting people I have an association with, or going to a event of a common interest where I get to interact with people.

Yes, that does make any vacation more fun. A part of why I keep going back to Costa Rica and will be building a home here is become I've come to know so many people here. Have you ever been to burning man? Years ago, Jack and I were considering going with a group of friends that meet up there every year. We didn't end up going...but probably should have.

I will actually have time off in a few months. First time in a very long time.

I haven't found any appealing ideas of what do with it.

Burning Man is an interesting idea, though maybe not this year due to the pandemic fears.

Now that everyone knows about it, the event may no longer be what it was.

I also may be too uptight for it. :-)

Still it is an interesting idea.

I will be curious to know what you decide doing for vacation this year. Over the years, I've taken guided hiking tours, gone on fitness camps and, a few other health retreat type trips where there is a small group of people who have never met before. In fact, my best friend of 8 years and I met at a guided hiking trip. I never really looked at those type of excursions as vacations but I guess they are. Socially, it was nice to be with a small group who were experiencing the same program together. Most of them are in beautiful areas with a little bit of touristy stuff mixed in.
