Although my experience with CP is perhaps less extensive, i too have had this experience of a UK Domme assessing "12 of the finest" whereas my current Owner is American and the default is 50 unless there's a special occasion to use a different number, such as years old on a birthday.

The point about the non-decimal measures in the UK is precisely what i thought of when i read the original post.
