Spambots, as you may know, are programs that 'harvest' or extract email addresses from web sites, which can then be used or sold for commercial purposes, such as targets for spam.  We recognize this and though this method isn't foolproof, it is one layer of protection that will help.   It may be impossible to stop 100% of the spam but taking precautions will keep the numbers low.  This method simply uses a randomly generated set of letters and numbers (5 digits total) to determine whether or not a human is actually requesting the information.   With the shielding enabled, a visitor would  only have to type the displayed code into a text box, click 'submit' and your email address/link would be displayed. The method makes it difficult if not impossible for the bots to read the code, thereby blocking them from accessing your information.  It's not to suggest that you will never get spam with this method, but it will help.  We are constantly working on some other options that will further security in the future.

When you log into the page editor, and select "links" from the menu, you will see a few options appear on the page.  For the purposes of this explanation, we will focus on two.

• Add A Link
• Approve A Link
  
  When you select Add A LInk, you will see three text boxes appear on the page;

Link Web address -This is the actual address of the website that you want to link to.  (i.e.http//domina.ms)
Link Text               -This is the actual text that will appear as the link (i.e. domina.ms)

Note:  When you add  a link via this method, it will automatically appear on your webpage, unlike when a user requests a link.  When a visitor requests a link, you have to approve it to have it appear on your page (see below)

When you select Approve a link. you will see your current links and link requests display on the page;

You will notice a link on each line that says "view your link"  By clicking the link you will be taken to the page where your link has already been placed on the site that is requesting the link exchange.  If you don't find your link, then deny the link request.  The whole object is to get you link on other people's page.

• Search by City:  This will allow visitors to search for you by the city you work in.   For traveling Mistresses this is perfect.  Simply log in to edit your webpage and select the links option.  You will see the search by feature listed there.  Simply add in the cities you will be visiting and instantly your information will be updated .
• Search By Name:  The name is self explanatory but for those of you concerned with visitors misspelling your name, this search will grab all of the names close to the visitors query, misspelled names should no longer be an issue.
• Search By keyword: This option will allow users to search by any word .  If the word is in any of the paragraphs, or in your address, title, or stagename information, you should be pulled up.

We will be featuring those members who are interested, on the front page of the website, including a section on the main directory page with three images, a portion of your page text, and links to your actual domina.ms page.  We will try to rotate them on a monthly basis.  The frequency may change depending on different factors to three weeks.  We aren't just going to post a square box image, we will take a high resolution image(supplied by you) and integrate it into the page design.  We may be leaving up these pages in an archive to allow you to use it for self promotion during and after the feature period.  That way if you decide to post links to it elsewhere, you wont have a dead link after the feature period has ended.  We are unsure of the response, so it may turn out that your image will be used several weeks from the time it is submitted.
